Nope it doesn't trigger the keypad, I have mentioned it, but they always ignore me, can't think why.

It's something we're looking in to, but is difficult to test since don't have an ipad. Always tricky to support devices that decide not to support large swathes of the web!

By 'large swathes of the web', presumably you mean 'adobe flash' based content, which is mostly some crappy ads and poorly encoded video.
Not supporting iPad will mean you end up cutting off large swathes of users! Mobile devices already outnumber desktop computers - this trend is accelerating so it would make sense to follow the trend now rather than get left behind...

We're not cutting off support for devices such as the ipad - far from it! It just takes a while to work out what the device specifically needs so that it can be supported.

Just found this on the forum software support forum:
IPads use a cut down version of Safari, one of the bits cut out of Safari is its Rich Text Editing API. If you are using an IPad you therefore need to go to your forum profile and disable the WYSIWYG Editor and use a standard text area for posting. So by 'large swathes of the web' I didn't just mean flash... |

You can test the iPad experience by downloading Safari, enabling develop mode and setting user agent as Safari Mobile 3.2.2 - iPad.
