Steve,
funny that but all the books say that you luff up when that happens -just goes to show that you should never beleive what you read in books. |

Bear away, definitely. Won't save that one though. I'll have some interesting photos of one of the new 300s for you next week... |

Rudder's still in the water, if he were as big as that boats original owner he might manage it!

Mr Cockerills talk / dvds etc agree with you - using the rudder to create lift when its heeled at that angle & also to regain laminar flow accross the main by going furthur by the lee.

Look on the bright side; he will have completed his gybe about a micro second after that pic was taken. Step on the plate, nip back in and off he goes. |

Maybe not!
I have gone into a gybe from a situation not dissimilar and come out dry. What seems to happen is the boom comes over and as it does the boat levels out so that when the boom is across the boat the boat in now upright. Also the boom coming across is quite gentle, probably because the boat is still going qiite fast dwonwind -so all is well. It amazed me at the time as I was sure that I was in for a swim |

Very pretty - I think - but what are you gonna call it? Neither Gulf nor GT40 work...

Very smart, there is a local Aston Martin in those colours which always reminded me of the gulf Porsche.
Posh Porchia for the name. |
