Although diehard dinghy sailors at heart, we want to be able to charter a boat for a warm holiday some time in the future and the first step looked to be getting a Tidal Day Skipper certificate.
We worked hard on the theory over Christmas.
We looked at various options - the Med was out because not tidal, the UK was out in Feb because TOO COLD - finally we settled on the Canaries which was really fantastic - warm sun AND wind!
And dolphins
![]() Although no way we are exchanging our Osprey for a yacht it was a great, if active, holiday.
Anyone else have any views or experiences?

I did my Day Skipper in Ipswich, it was windy, F7-9, warm thanks to my Musto gear and enjoyable thanks to the Instructor and ship mates. Mind you, it was August!
Glad i did it but havn't used it since doing the course back in 2008. |
