So is anybody likely to travel down here and pay £20 - £55 to stand on a hill and watch some dinghies racing way out in the bay?

There are already sadly plenty of people that don't want the olympics in england but thankfully there's lots of us that do. However with this move and I'm sure there'll be more like it, they risk draining the enthusiasm of the british people that DO want it here. It's a bad move.
Also, we all know sailing isn't a spectator sport and from that view point you're still likely to have no real idea of what's going on, so who are they hoping to charge?? Personally I can't wait to see the sailing but I'll more than likely just be kicking back and watching it on TV......If there is any coverage. |

Fortunately there are a few other free places to watch the racing. They're having a big screen on the beach. The ironic thing with that is you'll be stood on the beach watching the screen with the actual race going on somewhere in the distance behind you!
I personally think £25 to £50 would be ok for a seat on a boat anchored just of the pin for the medal race.

What planet are this council on? Sailing has never been a spectator sport, certainly not from the beach! You'd have to pay me to waste my time being there, I strongly doubt there'll be anything of interest to see.

I wouldn't pay either, I am sure I could get a private helicopter ride over the action for £50 pp
Does anyone know if the water is restricted to spectator boats? what was it like at other Olympic venues? |

Bet you'll find access to both water and airspace to be controlled. |
