Anyone know a decent (cheap) supplier of Galvanised steel box and tube sections - for a bit of work on my trailer. Webshop or close to Hertfordshire please.

You may find it difficult to get because most items are galvanised after they are fabricated........welding (difficult with zinc around), cutting and drilling all break the zinc coating which defeats the object........maybe get some raw steel section and then get the whole trailer re galvanised. Most plating companies have very large tanks.

If you intend welding galvanised steel it's not very good for your health, fumes are quite noxious (although I don't think your long term health suffers).

You can normally only get thin sheet for making biscuit tins in "pre-plate" most material is post plated as "GK.LaserII" said.
I know a guy in Biggleswade who can do most metal bashing cheaply and he did some really nice plating for me recently so can probably sort the galvanising too (his brother is a plater etc). |

Drilling through it will break the galvanising though Simon, over time it will rust where you drilled it.

You can buy the galvanising paint for areas you have drilled/cut. (Not sure you can call it galvanising paint if its a paint, but you get the idea)
