If you opened this topic in the hope of love and romance, you'll be sadly dissapointed! In the April 22 Y&Y Readers pages, Peter Fitt of West Mersea suggested "a coming together" forum for clubs and classes. Peter's idea was that it could offer classes in serch of venues, and clubs looking to host events, a way of getting it together. Needn't be restricted to events though and it could cover any dinghy clubs and classes related topics. Don't know how it would work, could be a yawn, but might be worth a slot in the Dinghy area? And Peter, if you're looking in, thanks for the reply. We have a couple of tepid venues for our Laser 3000 10th Anniversary event in 2006, but we'll definitely investigate West Mersea. Thinking on, what about launching a lonely hearts forum too? |

There's already a thread, Lonely Hearts, in the Banter section, but all these tough sailors are shy little things when it comes to romance...
Still, there are rumours of friendships and flirting behind the scenes... I only wish someone would tell a bit more, we could do with a bit of gos! (for the good of the community, of course ) Personally, I'm well out of the game! |

definitely a small world this sailing game ... probably why few sugar dadies are prepared to bare all in public, although I know several less well off sailors that have ... any 5000 sailors from last year's Inlands looking in? so how about some inside info on west mersea, sailor girl ... checked out the web site but it's "under construction" the 3000 class covers the full age range, ten to too old to tell at last year's Nats (won by female helm) and we'd look to put on a band or similar at next year's event, host club members very welcome Edited by yellowhammer |

well we have two clubs, a sailing club and a yacht club, both in crawling distance from each other and the boat park!! we have a wide range of dinghys, from a large fleet of optimists to a large fleet of 49ers, 29ers, various RS, byte C2 etc etc.
once out of 'the quarters' we have a very large open sailing/racing area between mersea beach and bradwel shore. We have recently held the Laser SB3 Nationals (last year) and previously held the Cork 1720 Nationals, both successful. overal a top club!!!!! Come and sail here!!!! |

I always remember Mersea Week as being very civilised and a whole lot of
fun - racing finished by early afternoon, allowing for plenty of sipping of the odd lemonade in the sunshine on the Yacht Club lawn |

mersea week sounds like another abersoch dinghy week ... or is it mainly a cruiser event? we're at the royal torbay regatta for our nats this year, chancing it with the yachties! for 2006 we were looking for something more personal for our anniversary, hence peter's response in Y&Y i'll pass on a link to this thread to 'the committee' ... how's the wind, tide, waves, launching, boat traffic ...... the social side seems to be covered |
