wooo that did sound wicked.... Mags, I have the solution to the painfull lashing of equipment to boat (ooh er) I bought a windsurfing board bag in a sale for approx £15, its big enough to fit me in it, but its perfect for boom, with mainsail attached. For the RS400 towing I just zipped the bag around the boom and sail and placed the rudder and tiller in, and because its so heavy and padded it just sits in the boat.....do the zips up around the kicker and hey presto.

for me, by far and away the most useful thing (and potentially most lucrative* I can think of) would be a simple, cheap, device that shows the driver whether or not the trailer tyres are punctured (or even better, but probably blooming complicated, about to puncture) - this would save me driving round with the mirrors angled in & down while trailing and I'll bet, many others too (and I'd pay </= £30 for such a thing as well)
as there's a lot of people towing stuff that's got nowt to do with boats Edited by getafix |

A mirror? You will know if the tyre punctures, it was pretty hard to ignore when it happened to my trailer. |

I have that paranoia as well. Never had a blowout on the trailer, so don't know how obvious it is. Instead of checking the (angled) side mirrors why not look in the central rear-view mirror to see if the transom is level or not! If one tyre is gone, it would be obviously leaning to one side. |

how about a bulbless trailer board that used fibre optics to take the lights back from the car? or bettr a modification to a cleat for genniker uphaul that means that when released it doesn't just drop the genny in the water, but allows it to be dropped at the rate that you pull on the downhaul? Or you could just put a ratchet block in the halyard system somewhere... But in my experience the transom ballast usually solves this problem by winding the halyard round their ankle or something. |
