Well, someone had to start a thread. With Cirrus inviting expressions of interest in their new two man hiker, I though this would be a good place for interested folk to share their thoughts. Personally, I would like to see carbon spars and possibly a cruciform rudder. Any news on sail area and crew weights Mike? Really looking forward to the Dinghy Show! |

Looks quite similar to my old 1971 Skol Int Moth, now sailed by a lad with less gammy knees than me. Nice looking boat, but the colour scheme makes it look a little like a jacuzzi.

You can have any colour you want .....if you have your cheque book to hand ! You have to see this one it in the real world first though.
As for handicap - not a pressing worry at this stage. If it was not likely to be fast we would not be bothering really. However it all depends on the final version of rig and that will involve feedback from potential customers first. Crew weight target - 2 x todays 'average' sized is the target. Or one big one and a slightly smaller one. Foils - Currently dagger but already some direct emails are asking about centreboard possibility. Peaky likes the mildly 'exotic' rudder concept - not ruled out or in yet. It would add complication, which goes against the Icon model, but it will be worth nicking something off an N12 for evaluation ... . In the meantime a bit more 'boat porn' as my wife calls these sort of photos ... enjoy. |

Icon is currently intended to be a 'simple' but rather fast boat. If the prospective owners really want extra sails I'm sure they will let us know ! After all the MG14 is much more 'involved' and effectively uses a very similar platform. What are you implying .... that we might be better off chasing after the RS 200 sort of area ?
