Does anyone know about public slipways in this area, for launching a dinghy?
Alternatively, is there anywhere to hire a sailing dinghy for the day, on these waters? So far I have contacted Titchmarsh Marina, and the Walton & Frinton YC. Thanks. |

Why there specifically?
The issue you will have is the tide going out, as you can only sail there at certain times of the tide. The marina does have a slip way but look on google earth and you will see the size of the area you launch in! I am unaware of anywhere you can hire a boat specifically for a hour or so. I am sure you could launch straight off the beach at Walton though instead, straight into the sea. Otherwise go round to Brightlingsea and pay to launch or for free launch from Point clear. |

Alton Water may have boat hire on their pond.

Go round to Brightlingsea Club. Weekends and Thursday evening racing and excellent beer, sailing and company. Or are you just trying to do a Swallows and Amazons Secret Water trip? Edited by patj |

Thanks, that is a useful link!
The the idea is just to have a potter around S&A territory (Secret Water) with my family one weekend. |

Obviously the pubic slipway at Walton-On-The-Naze leads to nothing but mud at low water. Does anyone know how many hours either side of HW it is possible to launch a small dinghy? Thanks.

Maybe ask WFYC? I see they often start races 2 hours before high tide so I guess you get 2 hours either side, possible 3 hours at a push.
