Yes it is indeed a sad day for the sport, Dave Ovington was one of the
most incredible boat designers and one of the main developers of high
performance craft.
He certainly achieved a hell of a lot for the sport over the years and I hope this is what all of us will remember him for. |

Tragic. He was a wonderful person and we were very shocked and
saddened when we heard of his loss this morning. We will especially miss his smile, his enthusiasm and his bounce. Heartfelt sympathies to all of those whose lives he touched. Edited by Gael |

We are all so sad to hear the shock news today. Sailing has lost a great man with so much passion for the sport who always had a smile. All our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone at Ovington Boats. |

My thoughts go out to his family. A great loss to sailing, Dave was a Gentleman in the sport and will be sorely missed.

I'm sure I speak for everyone at Tynemouth SC when I say he will be will be sadly missed at the club and throughout the sailing world. Dave was a great guy who always had time to offer advice on anything boat-related, and I feel privileged to have sailed with and against him. I will sail my Ovi Enterprise with pride this season.

A bloody good bloke, funny, honest, dedicated and talented. Sailing is immeasurably richer because of Dave and a lot poorer for his loss. He was such a good kind friend to me and my family, we are devastated. All our thoughts are with Glynis and the boys. |
