Don't forget the Nore Race on July 18th (you need to pre-enter with Benfleet Yacht Club - most TBYC regulars compete and win most of the silverware!), start from Southend Pier, also recommend the Round Sheppey which is good fun!

Don't forget that you can ask your class association to organise a long distance race. I don't think any of the 800's who went to Largs last year will forget the round the Cumbrae race in 25-30 knots. Just awesome... That was part of the three day bank holiday RS Circuit Event, although probably not as long distance as some races already mentioned being 12 miles, but it made a really interesting change to the normal windward / leeward, and a good addition to a 3 day event. |

Chichester Yacht Club runs a club race called Up the Creek.
Traditionally the competitors could select there start time within a hours window. And then sail each creek in any order. Each boat must round the racing marks Fishbourne (near fishbourne), Church (near langstone), Star (thorney channel) and Quay (Bosham) (all to starboard). Additionally they must round Ellanore (s) on the way to Church and East Head (p) on the way back from Church. Then return to the club line finish. Course length is appox 24 miles, and normally takes between 4 to 5 hours non stop sailing . This event is on this coming Saturday, but it is only for CYC members. Sorry not enough safety boat cover otherwise. |
