Looks to me like a candidate for a bit of a local epoxy makeover and built under license, or ripped off and called something else 'Sparrow 3.7'? A chance to build it down to weight, actually have a boat someone light could even lift onto a trailer wouldn't that be a first?

Graeme, they look perfect for you mate, you can even get a kite fitted to one. Think of the money you would of saved developing the floating mattress.

My floating Mattress will turn out to be the fastest
Whilst indeed the Farr 3.7 looks like exactly the sort of thing I should have looked at, firstly, it remains a curiosity from a bygone era and secondly built by sheep botherers who are well known for their total lack of style, savvy and have less culture than my breakfast yoghourt, hence my suggestion for using it as a base upon which to fashion a proper modern craft suitable for a helmsman of the twenty first century such as my good self..

Graeme, name a time and place. You can have any handicap you want. Your age and school boy physique is the only handicap we need to tan your backside in the 5oh. Have you fitted a hook to clip your colostomy bag to?

I'm a little curious about this V-Twin you are building, mainly because I fiddle around a little with yacht design in my free time... If sailed flat, will the hull shape not create turbulance where it hollows out? Right where the centerboard is located? This would be fine when on the plane with the bow up, but upwind would increase drag and cause the c/b to stall? You have countered this by saying it will sail heeled over upwind. Yet there is little freeboard, so will you not have issues with the racks dragging and the width causing the c/b to lift out? |
