Topic: Laser 2 to Rs200 or RS400 Posted: 14 Jan 10 at 11:55am |
Hi I currently sail a Laser 3000 with my girlfriend as
helm, though during the winter I sail solo. I am 5'7" 8 stone and do not have trouble with a furled jib. I am considering purchasing an RS400 to replace the Laser, does anyone have any advice? The Laser 3K has been a great boat to get us started over the past 12 months, but I would prefer to have a slightly larger boat with a little more room for the crew. |

The 400 needs a combined weight of around 22 -26 stone. If you are very fit, quick, strong and skilfull, then 20 stone is possible inland. Up to 30 stone regularly race and do well. If you are 8 stone, you will need a very heavy girlfriend! What else races at your club? Or are you thinking of travelling to Open Meetings? |

My girlfriend weighs less than me! So the RS400 would be
too large then. I sail at Grafham Water, I think there are lot of Laser 2000's, not sure which other boats are sailed there in the asymmetric classes. I've not started to race yet! What about the RS200? |
