Why do you say that, Ross? I agree, I'd just like to know your reasons!

Like several other I play Guitar for my own pleasure. My wife will tell you it's definately not for her pleasure. Although when I was playing at a barbeque in the summer everyone seemed impressed. I've got a Legend Tele copy with a really neat Welsh Dragon paint job. Main effects I use are Chorus and Echo. I've also got a round back acoustic. What sort of stuff do people play? With me it's mainly Rock or Metal. Most days the first song I'd play would be by The Police or Rush. Which leads nicely on to the fact both bands are releasing DVDs from their tours last year on Monday. And as I saw them on consecutive Fridays last October you can guess where I'll be spending next Monday.

Damn useful... You're far too young to remember the days when some keyboard players, notably those with long blonde hair and silver cloaks, used to surround themselves with about 20 different keyboards... Plus I treasure the puzzled look on a past keyboard players face who couldn't work out where the pipe organ bass was coming from because he was sure he wasn't playing it... It was from my midi Strat! Just had bad experiences with it. Like writing out 54 bars of Beethoven score for a string quartet. The worlds most pointless exercise and I gave me 'teacher' some real grief over it. It would have made a lot more sense to get the musicians in the studio and just mic that shizzle up! Drums are similar though there are programs and pieces of software that get you really close, almost undistinguishable even to the most trained ear. But you can't beat a live performance. All the little nuances that machine cannot replicate is what makes it unbeatable. This is just what I think anyway. Even the old school breakbeat turntableists have cirtain magic about their sound, rather than programmed beats. |

Who's into the more 'underground' music scene's on here then? I hate to use that cliche... but its true, I mean the wicked grimey clubs whacking dubstep, jungle, DnB, reggae out at 120Db til 9am to a ... diverse crowd :]? Gotta love the ska/punk too :D. However, no, unfortunately I play nothing ... :[ |

MIDI has caused several hundred hours of my life to disappear into a black hole....but I think I enjoyed it.
But more than anything else, I wish I could sing. That would make any instrument or band more pleasurable for me. Perhaps add a touch of confidence too, so I wouldnt feel abashed doing it. |
