It seems to me that I'm one of a very few people excited about the olympic regatta? There's certainly not that many people posting on here discussing the ins/ and outs and I thought we'd get more traffic here after each race.
OK so it's peak holiday / regatta season, but I'm sure in Abersoch/Pwhelli and loads of other places it'll be on all the tvs.. For me I'm loving the live coverage, ok so the wind is pants., there's lots of current and weed, but as I've now got interactive I can hop right to shirley & Richard's dulcet tones.. But the best bit is the timing, unlike athens when all I could follow was on-line or sydney when all the action happended when you wre asleep, with Qingdao I just need to get up early and 5:55am it's on with the red button ready for the 5 minute gun.. Bring on Ben, Sarahs & Pippa tomorrow.. |

I'm loving it- it's very rare to see sailing get any kind of coverage at all...
Only problem is i dont wake up in the mornings, so my alarm goes off and wakes the rest of the house up, who then have to wake me up (usually by some sharp kicks...) I'm not particularly popular at the moment... The only thing im dissapointed about is that the 49ers were on cable... Will there be anymore coverage of them? (medal race probably...) |

I may not be posting anything but I've been getting up at 6.00am each
morning to watch it on the BBC. I wouldn't miss it for the world! |

I'm following it every morning, with the sound up on the BBC coverage most of the time. Watching it.....some......mostly the mark roundings. There is only so much time I want to spend watching boats wafting around in 5 knots of breeze. I can't say I'm all that interested in a blow-by-blow discussion on what happened.

True and the 470's curently is intensely dull...but it still amazes me how much that Richard in particular misses...1st windward mark after a black flag start sound signals and boats sailing off the course...then about a lap later Richard goes.."welll we're expecting some boats to be ocs"..yeah like the ones that were thrown out at the top mark.. Full marks to the boys from Royal St. George YC however... |

I'm off work next week, so can slip my whole schedule back but about 5 hours .. and be up by 6 am to watch the sailing, and back to bed at 9! So far all I've caught is the pre-start, 10 mins of cameras looking around the venue, and half the first beat. Saw a bit of the windsurfing highlights yesterday ... Lots of rowing going on! Can't wait for the Tornados though! |
