Is it all on the water judges? There seem plenty of congestion around the marks with the Ynglings - what was the USA doing with the kite up dodging the boats still coming up the beat - didn't seem to do them much harm though.

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Yes, the USA Yngling looked as if it had got in the way of several boats as it gybed onto port and started the run. But the commentators didn't seem to notice any of that!

I saw at least two other boats doing turns in that race: I'd be suprised if they'd have got away with anything significant. Telephoto foreshortening?

By the way, if you go on the ISAF site you can find out what the On-the-water Jury busied themselves with today. http://www.sailing.org/olympics/racing/onwater.php Looks like several Finns got caught for pumping. The Greek Finn that won the 1st race seems to have had to do turns - and then what happened in the 2nd race? |

A second infraction of rule 42 in the regatta (and third and so on) requires the sailor to retire from the race. Failure to retire leads to a non-discardable DSQ.
For third offences and so on sailors are required to retire and will be given a non-discardable DSQ. Failure to retire will result in an early plane home. It's all in addendum P of the sailing instructions. Sailing Instructions Edited by Lukepiewalker |

I wonder how much pressure has been put on the Race Officers to start races, after all the Chinese would have looked pretty silly if not alot of races happened? I'm not sure I'd have strated a couple of them if I were on the Comittee boat. thoughts? |

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!
