I believe it was thought to be bad luck to change a boats name, for sailors in the 1800s. It is also supposed to be a bad idea to paint a boat green.

I've done both of these, and so far my boats have never sunk or had terrible accidents.

Always change your boats name if you dont like it, else you'll get stuck and begin to hate it!

Respect must be given to the owners of the Cork 1720 'Mad Cow' who have called their RIB  'Udderboat' - very clever!!

My boat is called Beauty and the Beasts.  A friend of mine suggested the name implying that my helm and I were a pair of animals. In the pst few years I've had some quite attractive girls crewing for me so I don't mention the name incase they get ofended.  The boat is now 17 and is still beautifull.
Campaign for longer weekends and therefore more sailing!

So any suggestions for an un-named pink 470 - owner too shy
to ask herself!

My first suggestion was 'Blue toothbrush' (if you remember the
song then you're very sad, but I think it would be very funny
trying to explain it).

I used to be very superstitous about changing boat names, but I thought shortening a name wouldn't do no harm, so after spending a winter rubbing down and repainting a Unicorn and generaly giving it TLC I decided to shorten it's name to go with it's new look , so "A kind of Magic " became just simple " Magic" . Unfortunately I never got to sail it !!!!!!

Some *rse ran into the bows in a car when I was turning into my sailing club ( Unicorns tow backwards ?) shortening the boat by 3 foot and writing it off at same time !

 I wouldn't recommend shortening names

Not that Parker 470 again, does it never die?

Previously owned by Jamie Lee and Mr Big and last seen with Mark Bukley of Tornado fame.

Does it still have a squint daggerboard case and the ruddr doesn't line up?

Could call it 'Squiffy Pink' or 'Pink Twist'

We had a Fireball in our club that was named "KINDA LINGERS"

For some strange reason the owner is still a firm favourite with the ladies........

Never enough time for sailing
