I do try and look after the boat, problem comes when something wears out/breaks, replacing stuff when you're skint isn't easy.

Ive just got a Laser 4000 (4113). Still looking for a name. Thoughts so far have been "Hanginaround" and "Dunk and Disorderly" but I'm not sure about either. Suggestions would be gratefully received Regards |

Hi Hugh, welcome to one of the most exciting boats. I'd like to hear how you get on and I'm always available for tips, but of course you should look at this site http://www.laser4000.lasersailing.com/

How about "The Fridge Door" - exactly where you would go to look to find the milk carton that you will need to tie to the top of the mast to stop the boat turning turtle...

But sometimes you just want to pick up any old one up, use and abuse it for a few months and get rid before you're too attached. Edited by Matt Jackson |

Ive had the boat since late October, sailed it probably a dozen times, had some SERIOUS fun which invariably means getting wet sometimes, but we havent turtled it yet . I cant begin to describe how much fun it is in a F4-5 with the kite up, its like nothing I've sailed before in those conditions. I have a great crew which makes it all the more enjoyable too. Laser 4000 Class Assoc. site has been down for most of the last week, hopefully will be back up soon. Regards Edited by Hugh |
But sometimes you just want to pick up any old one up, use and abuse it for a few months and get rid before you too attached.
Nothing wrong with that. But a few months could be considered a long term relationship. I've had a some old tubs that didn't even last the weekend. |
