No recent backups lads?
Shameful! On a serious note ... good work getting it all back up ... Im sure nothing important was posted between the 15th and now ... Just GRF and his (many) Alto threads! Only important question ... Did they remove all the logs? I'm sure we can hunt them down, and send "The Boys" (Cherub'ers, angle grinders, and large pieces of sharp Carbon?) to do some "Debt collection" for the hassle? Edited by Villan |

Shanghai if you believe their DNS registration (which I imagine is falsified too), so rather a long way to go. Its pretty certain they're from China though. Edited by JimC |

Ah, I thought it was some random evil Chinese man hacking/killing my lappie this morning. Log on to Y&Y and all this install Chinese lettering pops up, I say noooo, it says fine we will kill your lappie. Lappie has hissy fit, well more so than it usually does. Huge thanks to the guys and girls at Y&Y for getting the site up so quickly |

I dare say the first Alto thread is still there. But the one I need is now lost! Lets hope someone who matters read it and took note of all that sage forum advice.. Shame they didn't keep back ups, it's even worse on the Boards forum, being much busier they've lost quite a lot more. Makes you wonder though, with dinghy sailing a much much bigger activity, why this forum is so slow? Is it that dinghy and yotties generally are not that techie, or is it the dominance of girly boy youf, or is it that as a forum it is a bit "stuck up" to use the vernacular? Of all the forums I visit, this is by far the least lively, every forum has its cliques and you do have to have very thick skin to pile straight in, but it surprises me that a Yachts & Yachting board isn't busier. I wonder if its the layout. Edited by G.R.F |

Its the people on the forum GRF, i think it scares people posting in case they get put down or insulted. THe foum is full of wannabe skiffies, the sad thing is that these classes represent a very very small part of the dinghy racing scene.

Insulted? Not sure if that's really the case here. If you look at other forums in other disciplines, the tone can be much more aggressive. At least here, there are informative threads and good-humoured banter, even with our dear Grumpf, who's version of comic is spiked with caustic soda. However, the bit about "wannabe skiffies" is sadly getting more and more prominent with every noisy, hyperactive, txtspk new user bitterly complaining about the harsh life he has, revising his GCSEs in that ghaaaastly public school where you can't even view kinky sites during prep time. It's a shame that no one in that age group would actually admit sailing a Topper or a Laser without being ribbed and put down by people who talk big. I do sail Toppers and, in a blow, I haven't been in any other boat you can throw about quite as much! |

Because most active dinghy classes have their own forums. Many clubs have their own forums. Some classes at clubs have their own forum. And the keelboat sailors are mostly on Sailing Anarchy. This is not the only game in town by any stretch of the imagination. |

Nah. Sailors are not such shrinking violets. Sailing Anarchy gets 1000s of posts a day and is 10 times ruder and more aggressive than here. |
