Amazing how long those wetsuit ads were around for.  I wasn't born until '72 but I remember them both in a vague - please please somebody find the Javelin ad to bring happy memories flooding back sort of way!

Risk of htis is of course that we disappear into the girls in neoprene/lycra thread that appeared about 6 months ago.

Which poses a dodgy question - which is better modern figure hugging thin neoprene or the slightly bondagy thick stuff in the ad above?

And more esoterically I have a great book Dinghy Days from a phot called Eileen Ramsey from about 58 which I will try and find some shots from.

There is a tiny pic of one here:

The article is worth reading too.

You're right I think. I now reckon 1 is a Cat, not a Scow. Its got that roach curve at the bottom look a lot of Cats had back then too. Not sure whether I like Shearwater or something like one of the Thai Cats...

Look what has just bee posted on YouTube!!

YW Scow footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxZTNTINLUk
and
Thai Cat footage : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v22Hu6BA9Q4

I think the YW Scow gets the vote for number 1 on the cover of the book

As this thread seems to have inspired me to make more postings in a day than I have in the last 4 years I thought I'd put up some pics from the 1952/53 editions of Yachting World, I believe this was about the only sailing mag in those days.

The copies have been carefully bound together by my father, it was well before even my time....

As the thread started with an International 14 lets start there
