Anyone else having problems with the forum...or is it me (probably) The message field area is not shown on my first few attempts at making a posting, all that is shown is a 'grey' area and not the pale blue! and no cursor! have one now but it's flickering! Also, when I first view the site, I have or had, it set up so that I only saw the latest postings since my last visit, now I get postings that I have already read as well as any new ones. This morning I was given a strange options list....something like lastweek, last 2 weeks, last month. In the the past the options would have been something like last 15 mins, last hour, last 2 hours etc. is it me? PS if you are part way through typing a reply and you wish to check a detail from a posting, can you save your message, I seem to end up having them deleated!!! Help......please Also, keep getting 'page can not be displayed' Edited by headfry |

yeah, sometimes the grey area in the posting happens to me aswell, i guess my connection is so slow that halfway thru loading it just gives up if u want to save a message, u can copy it by selecting the text and then pressing the 'Ctrl' button (bottom left of keyboard) and the letter 'c' at the same time. i.e hold down ctrl and press c. then find out ur fact watever, go back to the topic and press ctrl+v to paste the message that u had copied. also mark, a small annoyance, when im using broadband in my dads office i am often posting in about 3 different topics within 2 minutes, however this exceeds the posting amount and comes up with a spamming alert. is this really necassary? i know it is probably a built in thing to the 'web wiz forums' application but surely it can be turned off? the only time i hav ever seen spamming is by the poseidonyachts guy and that was just a bit of free advertising... hope this helps more than it confuses headfry! hope this helps |

Helps alot, and to know I am not alone. It would be good if we had a little button thingy that we could just press to 'save' message....bad news if you have to come off line in the middle of a message. work gets in the way sometimes

Answers to technical questions: My guess about the grey box appearing is if you're on a slow connection. The message typing box uses HTML extensions that create the WYSIWYG format and that can exceed the page timeout on a very slow connection. With regard to the spam preventer - the very reason you don't see spam messages is due to this filter. It wouldn't take a spammer very long to flood this forum and make it unusable with the fliter switched off. It prevents the automated scripts from getting through. Hope this all helps! |
