HI Jockey, that would be great if you could spare one. If you let me know some contact details I can get in touch more formally. For me see - yachtaction.co.uk. I'm putting her in the water in the next 3 weeks to see if the lead board is man enough. If not then I'm thinking of a new 3 mtr board with 300kg keel bulb and lose some crew. What do you think? Maybe get together sometime next year after i've stopped capsizing!!

how fast is it actually in comparable terms? Quick as a 505, RS800, International 14, 49er, 18ft Skiff?

I believe the two in Penzance SC have been there since I looked them over in 2007! Don't know what condition they're in though. Mine is for sale if you're seriously interested. I believe they only made 6 or 7 in total. One I know went to Connecticut USA and I think one may be in Europe.
Good luck in your search.

OK, Got the Ultra 30. It has got the most rediculously complicated rig I have ever seen. So plan is to build a new keel with 350 kg on the bulb and reinforce keel box. Hope to stick a smaller rig on for a few test sails with the racks to see how much beam we need to keep it upright. Hope it has enough buoyancy for the ballast. After that , all going well we will source a permanent mast and sails if it looks worth the investment ($$€€ big if !!). Ideally to end up with a boat looking something like the' Phuket Sports 8'.See what the guys on Zombie have done.. http://www.facebook.com/ZombieRacing Any ideas? |

350kg on standard board (2.4m) will not be enough to stop inversion after capsize. I have photos of Zombie inverted with that set up. I have 500kg at 2.95m draft. It does not invert and when you eventually manage to capsize it you can right it with the sails still up. Rig is very strong and does not need the runners without the kite up. Armour plated under garments ar required before you put the big kite up (2000sq ft).
What was the name of the boat you bought? Good luck. |
