And of course, if you get both rigs for the Feva ( the S and the XL ) you can;
singlehand it with one sail doublehand with one sail doublehand with 2 ( or 3 if you rig the spinaker ) Or even singlehand it with main + spinaker if you get brave! |

I'll second or third that having sailed one for a day around Chich harbour (admittedly I was a bit big for it), Is the daggerboard the same as a topper? A bodge of a boat. |

alternatively there is the byte (or the cII) or the MX RAY if you wanted a bit more of a challenge. it would be a challenge trying to find an mx ray in the first place i think. plus they are shocking upwind but good for quick downhill run. byte cII is a good boat. its pretty nippy if you get it right, what with the 29er-esque sail.

Done that in a blow before (I'm a big lad) just to see what the thing was capable of, was rather fun. Mind, I can get the spinnaker up in two grabs of the halyard. |

having sailed the topaz, dont get it. they are horrible. badly balanced with uncomfortable layout etc. never sailed the feva but they are very popular so presumably very good. depending on how often you take your sister out sailing it may be worth a look at the laser radial. you can get a cheap one, they hold value well and are fairly tough and easy to repair. there is also likely to be fleet at your club to help you learn to race etc. however if you intend to sail with your sister more often then the feva would be best. |

a feva would be a good boat to learn in. even if its only for a year, and all you learn is ow to avoid others on a race course. because after that you can get a less robust (glass fibre) boat to learn all the rest of that tactics nonsense in (a laser). then you can relise how painful and dull lasers are and get a nice boat with a trapeze. (thats what i did anyway, and now im learning how to fix boats when they break). Edited by mike ellis |
