Goodness NO I quite like the avatar I have. It's close to what I am looking for! kinda cheeky, happy, confused look.... Guess I best leave this subject alone now. Though I will be looking to use a 'headfry' logo on my boat (when it get it!) I think you can get them printed at the boat show???? Head exploding...yes mine when I try to sail my 400 for the very first time, have only done about 30'ish hours dinghy sailing, inc.time spent on the RYA level 1&2 course!!! see what I mean....it will be a real 'headfry' but such good value entertainment for those at my sailing club. |

Headfry, don't be tempted to go out if its too windy. Also if you're on the margin just reach up and down until you get the feel for it and keep away from lee shores. Hopefully you won't have to launch off a lee shore or come back into one. Also practice using the dagger grip and tack facing forwards keeping you tiller hand on the stick, so that you end up sitting out but steering behind your back - and then swap hands. Sorry to fuss but I want you to enjoy what must be the finest 2 man (person) dinghy - certainly its the fastest sitting out boat. |

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooh, don't know about that, Redback. Point 1: Finest 2-person dinghy? (choke!) Try telling that to a 14 sailor, 505 sailor, or an FD sailor or a 470 sailor. I reckon if you did one of those customer satisfaction surveys, like they do for cars, then these would all beat the 400 hands-down. I've heard loads of 400 sailors moaning about their boat, but I've never heard of anyone sailing a 505 who didn't absolutely love it! Point 2: The RS400 (PY 952), is the fastest sitting out boat on the officially published PY list; but a 59er will be quicker, with a suggested PY of around 900. Also, the handicap of a Merlin is 1024, but that's way too slow for the modern boats. Not sure if a Merlin is quicker than a 400, but it can't be far off. |
