Hi sailing chums...... The disastrous Fastnet race of ...... 1979 ( I think) I remember buying a book about this race. sadly I no longer have the book, but would love to buy a copy - somehow. Problem is I know neither who wrote it or what it was called It was a boat by boat account of each of their tales of the storm. Following each boats account was a summary, given by some one possibly Adlard Cole, as to what could have been done to help onboard the boat at the time. I think there was an overall summary at the very end of the book saying that sea sickness played a large roll in the crews abilities. Does anyone have further information on this, by now 'old' book! I did my A'level History project on the '79 Fastnet Disaster. Think I passed most of the books on to Friends and relatives for Birthday/Xmas presents! I do have one left - think it's called Fastnet Force 10 or Storm Force 10. Written by a bloke called John Rousemaniere (or something like that!) Hope that helps! |

Wow Lucy that was quick! thank you.
I do have a paper back that I bought last year, hoping that it was the same as the first one that I bought years ago, but alas it was not. I will check tonight as to what it is called. Seem to think that you might be close with the title.

I think so. I remember reading something similar, and the reviews on Amazon make it sound like the one you describe, with the boat by boat accounts. Lucy |
