Not sure if this tread has already been covered, fogive me if it has.
Reading between lines on recent threads, it seems some have tried to 're design/adjust' aspects of their boat, and good on them! ie different sails etc.! What crazy mods have you made to your boat and why? did it work out? did you do it just for the pure fun of it? 'cos you could! |

Where shall we start? Threw all alloy spars, rudder, stock and sails away. Angle ground off half the stem, first few feet of topsides, entire foredeck and spaceframe. Added "snout" and new domed foredeck and self tacker. Pole is a piece of beefed-up RS800 topmast which now slides through a piece of 49er spinny pole as it's tube, pole moved from offset to centreline. Sat salvaged RS600 mast with home made balsa & carbon spreaders on top of ex RS800 mast (as a stump to gooseneck). Bespoke shrouds, caps, D2s and forestay all added. Added deep teardrop carbon boom. Glued on racks and wheelie bars made from scrap RS800 masts with a total of 12 footloops made from plastic tubing and rope. Angle ground out half the tunnel and added foam/carbom kickbars. Wrote a spreadsheet in excel to make a NACA0010 rudder jig at 195mm chord, routed blade from cedar and sheathed in carbon to fit in a repaired Winder Fireball rudder stock. Sheathed hideous old daggerboard at the same time (must make a new one!) Added carbon fishing poles as tiller extensions and twin wires. Full fit out including continous kicker out to the racks. Painted the whole thing yellow, put on some nice big kevlar bespoke Redeye sails and an RS800 kite. From...
