Challenge would be getting to Loch Ness-RAC says it is 650 miles 12 1/2 hrs. This event must be cursed -last time I tried to do it was cancelled for the F18 worlds in Erquy where it blew old boots and we hardly sailed |

organiser and no sponsor as was previously mentioned. Bit of a
shame but lets hope it'll be running again soon

Seems odd that most events can be run without sponshorship but this is wholly reliant on attracting a sponsor. I suspect that costs are extremely high due to the amount of rescue cover required to fufil guidelines .If that is the case couldn't we just sign a disclaimer accepting that there is no rescue cover and we race at our own risk !
Alternatievely shouldn't the RYA step in to support an event of this magnitude b searching for a sponsor -after all they seem pretty good at getting our elite sailors plenty of support so why not the ordinary sailor ?

At £90 to enter and 90 boats i wouldn't think that there would be the need for a major sponser maybe the local chip shop or something? |

It looks like Weston are trying to fill the gap by running a 40 mile fast cat race in the Solent on 5th / 6th August, but they won't be going around the island. The web site says the course is anticipated to be: Weston - Stokes Bay - Ryde - Cowes - Hamstead - Yarmouth - Hurst- Lymington - Beaulieu - Calshot - Weston. Have a look at http://www.strawberrymarketing.com/fastboat.html or http://www.weston.org.uk/

If you go to the fastcatrace.com website you should be able to contact the previous organisers and talk to them about sponsorship. From memory they were current/ex commordores from Datchet Sailing club.
