Went to Sailing club yesterday, got a Rescue boat out, ran it round the moorings breaking up the Ice.
Went into the club house had a bacon butty and coffee... And waited..
Racing abandoned for an hour ,
an hour later racing abandoned.
Left an hour later
Still no wind..

Still sailing in circles

For the first time since the seventies, I am not a member of a sailing club, handed my keys over, no longer on the call out for burglars list.
Not sure what is going to happen next year, but, feels remarkably liberating.

423zero Can I ask what has brought about this state of affairs?  Feel free not to answer if it’s too personal .  Smile

It’s just my wife and I have discussed many times the fact that we intend to be members of a sailing club long after we can physically sail as we enjoy it so much .

Most of my clique have either died or moved on, quite a few posters over the years have expressed concerns about cliques and new members, I have always sniffed at it, now I know it does have a effect. I will probably join another club next year. No acrimony though, could go back if I wanted.

423zero . I see and understand.
The best of Clubs  are so much than than a club house and facilities .

We have been at our current club for so long because of the warmth of people, sometimes if people leave so does that warm feeling .

Went along to the Grafham GP event on Monday 2nd Jan, great to see 109 boats entered for three races back-to-back under blue skies and a steady 8 knots of breeze! Had great fun catching up with lots of friends both on and off the water.

I have to say I love sailing at this time of year . I managed to start both Boxing Day and New Year’s Day this year for the first time in well over a decade. Enjoyed both but for different reasons .

Who else managed to get some sailing in over the holiday period? 😀
