The redress last time was when Jean Le Cam lost his keel and was recused by Vincent Riou. Riou damaged his boat in the rescue and was reinstated to 3rd.

I'd imagine there will be time allowance for all the boats who were called to the scene. But even if there wasnt, of course they would go. It's not only part of the ethos of the race, but part and parcel of maritime heritage and, I think, law.

I expect all the boats that were diverted on the search will get redress but it is going to be hard to work out who is where until they finish.
I have not followed this race before but the website Official website of the Vendée Globe - Vendée Globe - En (vendeeglobe.org) is very good with a mass of info and interesting daily bulletins.

Found it on the Vendée site. Rescuers get a time bonus .. so if it's close, the first over the line may not be the winner. Jean Le C will presumably get more time to cover handing Escoffier over ... and some extra food to cover board and lodging!
I guess it used to be canting keels breaking off and us oldies going "oohh step too far, that tech" now everyone has them and they're fine. |

Arkea Paprec has hit a UFO and the foil is damaged. There is water ingress due to the foil casing being detached from the hull - water ingress though not clear how much. Situation developing at the moment

Are sponsors going to be put off investing the huge amounts required for these campaigns on the off chance that you manage to get around intact ?
OR Will they get significant coverage if and when there are issues? |

Things not being helped by the amount of stuff falling (or being chopped) off the boats!! The sea is filling up with IMOCA 6 components. They're going to need LIDAR and collision avoidance software before long.
Pip Hare now looking like GBR's best hope. Go Pip Go :-). It's a huge shame for Sam, best placed Brit and, mostly, best placed woman too. Hopefully she can fix it.
