At one end of the human life scale, you have Donald Trump, and all that he represents(misrepresents). At the other end of the scale, you have Pip Hare. Inspirational, emotional, and downright bloody amazing. One day changing a rudder on her own in the Southern Ocean, the next, passing Cape Horn, in a 20 year old boat, doing far better than you would have thought.

This is getting very close - first 5 boats within 145 miles !
Amazingly close after so many 1000s of miles |

Pip has been my hero since she crewed a laser 5k
She could not pump the kite. But they still went pretty fast. Was a blood red boat. “So they can’t see me bleed” 😂 |

I agree Pip is a very charismatic communicator. I really hope she makes it round in one piece, though I don't think she will beat Ellen MacAuthur's time which she was aiming for. (Not sure anyone will this time.) The other incredibly brave entrant for me is Damien Seguin, a multiple Paralympic gold medallist, who only has one hand. He has been well up with the leading group.

It should not be banned of course but, as its race, its become a total lottery of who is lucky enough not to clout something
We should really hope that none of the sailors get into real trouble |

Indeed. 960k people playing the Virtual Race (as am I - currently at 27k position - on the downhill slope on the ice zone limit to the Kerguelens). Sailing Anarchy Forum getting minute by minute responses with 74 long pages of 'sometimes' useful info. ;-) The Vendee has lots of great exposure for all sorts of good reasons. Lets not trash it. |
