Topic: Laser Pico Sail Number Posted: 29 Jun 20 at 5:05pm |
I recently bought a secondhand Laser Pico and have no clue what the sail number is. It has worn off the original mainsail and there was no paperwork. In setting out to get it insured, I find that the sail number is the first thing that is asked for. I can just about make out the serial number on the transom.....GBPSEP600F695
From internet research I have found out what some of this means but cannot find anywhere that says what relationship it bears to the sail number. Can anyone help with this please? |

Assuming no one is able to decipher the code, don't worry, phone the insurance company of your choice and speak to them. Its not like car insurance, they are all (in my experience) friendly and helpful and I am confident that they will sort you out

PS, if you go to Menu, and look under Partners you will find several reputable companies who help support this website.

You must have the only boat in captivity where so much glue has worn off the sails that you can't read the old numbers... unless of course it never had them. Its a class which is often corporately owned and so may never have carried a registered class number.
Personally I would pick a number I liked and put it on the sail and tell the insurance co that's what I'd done. Its good manners at the very least to have some kind of id on the boat. |
