Does she sail? No one in my family sails which can be a pain.

Rarely - foolishly I tried to teach her when we first married on my Laser 4000, which was dumb but she has been out a bit with me in friends Sport 16 recently!

One of the women's sailing groups would be better, less pressure, very difficult to teach a family member to drive or sail.

Going sailing with the other half works well, but the teaching sometimes not. So sharing the experience of a cruise in a Sport 16 with no expectation of learning happening sounds like a good way to go. |

Who dared to say that? Go stand in the corner with the D hat on. It might not be life and death for some of you but it's pretty damn high on the very short list of things that keep me happy to get out of bed every day. So this is a thanks to someone from this forum, who I now shall consider in a totally different light for taking the trouble to find out 'how I am' because I've been a bit quiet of late, which is hardly surprising since there hasn't been much going on to even talk about until just recently. And as I said to him I haven't anything much other than apoplectic rage at this totally unneccesary nightmare with even worse to come. I've lost a club, not entirely due to covid but it hasn't helped and it will certainly never recover, whilst my other club which is now run by 'Executives' rather than a committee and they are most definitely of the Health & Safety variety, keeping us at bay whilst new commercial operations thrive. Yesterday was the first day I actually raced with the residual wednesday afternoon club and it did wonders to lift my spirits even though I'm carrying half the lake round with me in my Solution that has somehow filled up with water over the winter and with no bung, not easy to get out. The 2nd time I went 'free sailing' on the sea, which is about as big an area as you can get, saw me end up with a laser impaled in my port side and a thumping great hole for my troubles but up until then the new sail I'd built for the Farr was going really well #shouddahailedstarboard. So, no sea racing as of yet, meanwhile it's perfectly OK for 22 grown men and officials to go about their wendyball so the lockdown sheeples can watch tele.. The nightmare continues. Graham, I have sparred with you here recently. I do feel for where you appear to be - I am in that headspace myself, though I am much more enjoying re-discovering sailing as opposed to racing. If you have blown out 2 clubs, maybe it isnt them??? Anyway, take care. Its a difficult time for us all. Edited by Chris_H - 18 Jun 20 at 6:31pm |
