What we need is someone with years of experience in marketing But the structure needs to be in place first We have an Andrew Simpson Center on site so get a lot of benefits from that. There model works Book online Good warm kit Range of boats Range of activities Take you through your levels Then, and this is the key one introduce and support you doing your first races So easy, professional and with a root of progression |

32 pages of very different views and solutions. Not a surprise in a very diverse market.
How about all of us agree to actually doing one of the things we personally think is a good idea over the next few weeks? If its just be extra friendly to the visitor you would have spoken to anyway. There is not much agreement but I cant see a diverse spread of actions doing anything but good, |

+1..... provided the first item isn’t ban kids training
Cost comparison with other sports as a flyer is one of my favourites, at Draycote today, lots of fishermen, supposed to be our most popular pastime, I imagine that these guys spend more on kit than an ok club racing dinghy costs.

Strange, but reservoir trout fishing is in as much trouble as some sailing sectors. Cost of sensible tackle is lower and whilst in the past you had to make a very expensive commitment to a years ticket, now just about all waters are fighting to offer you a one off day ticket, and hope that enough stocked, smaller than in the past, fish appear to bring you back. Wild claims that there are millions of fisherman, the reality is that most go out three times a year. |

If I've given the impression we should ban kids training, I'm sorry, that's not my intention, the RYA do that and it's about all they do well, not suggesting for a moment we should even consider lobbying to stop it. My suggestion is that given everything as it stands, the only hope we have is to get some sort of inedpendant initiative off the ground and that should be targeted not at kids, but at adults or seniors. To do that in all fairness some sort of organisation would be necessary to co-ordinate and support a grass roots movement at club level, with some sort of unified approach with some back up marketing support, be it print or social media. It would have to be voluntary since there's no way we're lilkely to raise any kind of serious funding and the 'assistance' we'd need to give newcomers might not necessary have to be RYA sanctioned. Then again what I'm thinking just might not be possible in thsi day and age of H&S and litigation risk and my sort of thinking whilst perfectly feasible twenty or thirty years ago is just not viable in this day and age, so pointless to contemplate. Re, fishing, where my club sails there used to be approx' 20 fisherman every Saturday, last few years this has dropped to a max' of four, this year for the first time there have actually been no fishermen at all on some Saturdays.
I would estimate more than half of my clubs members are over 70, 90% are over 50, we are maintaining stability at the moment, we only have approx' 35 active members, couple of kids. Sea Cadets also use club and facilities. No other sports are allowed, purely sailing. |

Our club has just adopted a model yacht club from another SC where they weren't feeling welcome any more. If things go well, they will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A good addition for generally quiet days with possible crossover with big boat sailing and Sailability.
Already fulfilled a childhood dream of sailing an A Class model yacht. Only 40 years late. Still need to bag an A Class cat though, to tick off that dream. |

This man sounds like he could benefit from taking up sailing.
I suspect GRF is right, this is a good source of potential growth. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-7741723/Why-middle-aged-men-like-absolutely-NO-FRIENDS.html |
