Gets to something when the place you think you've been in for only five minutes has seen kids become full blown mamils, then I turn around and work out it's been fifteen years.. fifteen years can you bloody believe that, I've been a bloody dinghy sailor for fifteen years and on this forum for a fair few of them.
Then I have to consider that outside of my own club and folk I already knew from prehistoric dingy times the only people I've really met and become as friendly as one can in this digital age I've met from here, so it has been a valuable source and even though they've now entered pre senile SUP & ATB decrepitude you can still hold out hope for them that one day they may return to the fold when like me they can no longer do anything worthwhile without incurring annoying injuries. |

Ha! That ship has metaphorically sailed - 6 months to recover a mild/moderate shoulder injury from snowboarding earlier this year - it still clicks and aches after too much paddling.
I doubt my Laser was the last boat I'll own, but despite some initial intentions, dragging a D-Zero or an Aero out to Valencia when the only racing is in Lasers seems too much like that famous Einstein quote.... so for now, I'll enjoy the precious time I have left when my daughters actually want to spend time with me, rather than feel its some god-awful obligation! Bye for now, see you on Whatsapp etc if not before another 'pop-in' here at some point.... I didn't delete this favourite, who knows maybe there's a new boat just around the corner I won't be able to say 'no' to ;-) Edited by turnturtle - 11 Sep 19 at 11:52am |

Yes
A Laser is a Laser is a Laser whose sum is equal to a D-Zero and Aero cubed LLL=D-Z/Aero

Just checked. 11 August 2004. Over 8000 pieces of nonsense spouted. Need a life, but think that boat has sailed.
As for the injuries, mine from 15 years ago appear to be coming back to haunt me. |

4 broken ribs a few years ago still ache, broken leg 20 years ago still aches, broken hand and arm, (done at same time) 30 years ago still ache, a University announced some years ago that fractures do not ache in cold damp weather they didn't ask me.

Well I don't know what the overall affect has been regarding site hits, but you can't say Ian.r.maconald and GarethT haven't done their bit to reinvigorate the place and at the end of the day reveal the secret as to how, which is to post something a lot of us are interested in and so will discuss.
Not that I'm particularly interested in Solos, but do enjoy trying to understand how the maths heads can try to disprove something I know is a fact of sailing life in the Lee Bow Tide thread, although it's gone a bit silly now it's a great example of forum discussion even though some describe it as the very reason the forum is dying which is illogical since there hasn't been such a discussion in a good couple of years and the place had been quite quiet. All we need now is the PYAG group revisiting for a fresh attack on their integrity and everything will be fine and dandy |

If you look at the forum membership you can see one person dominates this forum on number of posts.
Plus I believe he also had other IDs that got deleted. Grumpy I’m told which makes sense. One a forum becomes the personal play think for one opinion set others lose interest.

I don't think any one poster dominates, there are 43 with 1000+ posts and a wide variety of different opinions. Sure there is dissent which occasionally borders on trolling but it's a much nicer place than many forums I have visited. If you are not sufficiently thick skinned to survive on here you won't have a snowball in hell's chance on SA.

Yeah, but the majority of those 1000+ posters have not posted this year ... something made them give up participation
