Looking for a new Buoyancy Aid and would like to have one as low profile to reduce chance of hitting the boom on tacks etc with my back. Saw the ones made by Forward WIP at the boat show which looked very thin and lightweight. Anyone tried them and got good or bad experience? Ta

H2, I don't know about that one but I can recommend the Spinlock Wing, easily the most compact BA I've ever had. I got it for the same reason you're looking. Are you at S Cerney this weekend?

They do two buoyancy aids that I can find:

The very simple one: https://forward-wip.co.uk/en/85-flow-neo-vest-50n.html

The slightly more complex one: https://forward-wip.co.uk/en/4-50n-impact-vest.html

The boom on the H2 looks so high that I thought that you could walk under it without ducking?  Maybe I have got that wrong Wink

The boom on the H2 is higher than a Finn, but then that is like saying sailing a laser is more comfortable than stapling your balls to the table! As with any boat you need to get under the boom and in light winds you will want to have the rig tension very loose to flatten the sail and rake the rig which results in much less room under the boom. If you want to do a big roll tack or gybe then you will probably hit your back on the way over. Its no big deal but as I need to get a new BA I figured why not ask if people have used the latest low profile BA!

I'll be the one wearing the svelte Spinlock BA! Also, D-Zero 11.

Got a spinlock wing too, definitely very comfortable and no boom-catching issues in the Europe so far.

So what did you make of the new Zhik one? Seemed like the 300 fleet had plenty of opportunity to test out the effectiveness of the buoyancy this weekend!!! Was happy to be in a H2 which was enough of a tiger to wrestle with but you boys were having a right old fight.
