Twenty years of this fantastic boat and in 2019 the class is looking to celebrate in style!
The class would like to get as many faces back to the reunion regatta and anniversary dinner as possible. This will be hosted on the Saturday of the Nationals, this September, at Eastbourne SSC. You may have seen the plea put out for loan boats for the nationals and the association is asking anyone with an 800 who can't make the nationals to consider loaning it out to enable us to return some of the pioneers of the class to get back on the water for this special milestone event. The nationals are 5-8 September with a Reunion Regatta and dinner on the 7th. If you're interested in getting in to an 800, message below, send me a DM or contact the class via the website. I'd especially like to hear from anyone with links to the class from previous decades! Obviously, as I am super massively over keen at making videos the class asked if I could stitch one together and I did! Enjoy |

The celebrations start on the RS800 stand at the Dinghy Show, this Saturday, 4pm.
Class Chairman Luke McEwan will be giving a talk on the history of the RS800 at 3pm on Sunday too. Edited by mozzy - 01 Mar 19 at 12:25pm |

Am I the only person who tried to race it in that configuration?

According to a post in the facebook group it seems like Martin Wadhams might have tried for a year or so, but largely take up was limited. From what I can see the option was written out in 2003.
There's still evidence of the option in RS800 rigging guide on RS's website. |

Early entry for the 20th Anniversary Nationals and Regatta end's next Friday at 0001hrs.
There's entry options for the four days, the weekend, or just the reunion regatta on Saturday 7th. |
