You're probably right. And yes, that does matter anywhere where you sail against current. Also, anything only 10ft long is going to suffer in some wave conditions. ISTM that a big issue with a whole range of Antipodean boats is that they are designed around LOA limits or LWL limits and suffer because they are shorter than the boats they are racing against. It's great to have a kid's boat that will go really fast when sailed well in a breeze, but if it puts kids off sailing in light air, it's not really going to help much at most UK clubs.
