Given that this is essentially a cobbled together proof of concept prototype that has only just touched the water the film of it sailing is very impressive Ian

It does look good, in a straight line. It is a shame to lose all the pre-start stuff though...

It does look great, and I'm amazed we've got to see a working prototype so early.... however, the criticisms are it's manoeuvrability, safety and how long it will take to get up foiling after dropping down, none of which you can say from this.
Sure looks a hell of a lot more impressive than it did in previous guise! Edited by mozzy - 25 Jul 18 at 11:46am |

goes like stink, looks odd, but who cares? racing wise it'll be the same as the cats i reckon, no different with how they had to start and avoid hulls/appendages (and have had to for decades). should be fun racing, is it the future? well its certainly an avenue but sailing is a diverse sport so there is probably room for this particular future, the foiling cats, the moths, and all the old school stuff most of us sail too.

Looks kind of interesting, but a load of horribly expensive and I suspect fragile, and even potentially dangerous stuff hanging out underneath. Then scale that up to 75?

Generating a lot of spray, always believed spray was a sign of inefficiency.

Massive difference in how they will start. It is an upwind start. Think about the logistics of accelerating from low speed with no righting moment or lateral resistance. |
