Thanks!
Took a look at some of your videos, I think I had seen a few before when browsing the inter-webs! Following you on YouTube now, so will look forward to some videos once you get out in Essex. We were out again at the weekend. A friend had a drone out too, so hopefully got some good footage... unfortunately we also did some inspection on the underside of hull which was caught tin full 4k HD from the drone That'll probably be our last sail until our first event next month. Looking forward to doing some racing and seeing how fair against others when under pressure. It feels like we're still some way to being really competitive so I expect a bit of reality check!

thanks for the follow!
i try for hull inspection to be on dry land, never turns out that way! are you actively on the 800 circuit? A couple of boats at our clubs way will be doing the RS games i believe, we're focusing more on local events this year to help build the skiff fleets up on the river. The take up the last couple of years has been phenomenal and we want to keep that momentum up. You'd be most welcome to come along for the East Coast Piers Race in the 800, we had 4 last year, we had a really close race out with all 4 boats reaching the leeward mark after 14 miles within 30 seconds of each other, and hope to get half a dozen at least this year along with the 49ers / Musto Skiffs and RS600s.

We've not been actively doing the circuit, we only got the boat in November. But we do plan to make some events this year, depending on work commitments. Hopefully we'll make it to Euro's or the Nationals.
When is the piers race?

Difficult evening sail, first time in over 20 knots. Unfortunately the jib tack broke before we got a chance to put in any decent manoeuvres, but I thought it only fair to share the rubbish sailing I do as well as the highlights where it all goes perfect!
Enjoy a bit of mozzy swimming |

It's nice when a sea breeze actually works. We bailed from the Datchet open as we had a few gluing and epoxying jobs to do for which the shed is great at HISC (a lot of rain on Saturday). Thank fully we were rewarded with a great sea breeze on Sunday. So often we sit on the beach speculating about when and if the sea breeze will happen, but when it comes in like the text book and build to 15 knots it's a real treat.

Is your rudder self centering ?

It's a lifting rudder, so the line I think you can see is what pulls the rudder down. It's not self-centering though.
At speed it does naturally follow the heel though, so if the boat is flat and you drop the tiller, it will keep centred as long as the boat is flat.

Not really 800 sailing, but it is an RS...
HISC Whitsun Regatta. Great weekend and the club went to great efforts to lay on a superb event. One for the 2019 diaries! This is from the third race on Saturday which got a bit lively! |
