If anyone asked I'm going to say it's a composite with natural fibre core. Although in some circles a wood core is acceptable so I'll take that.

Presumably heavy but not stiff, bit like solid GRP vs Sandwich, though Streakers constructed of it might might float higher  Wink

IIRC my dad's OK used end grain balsa cores in certain areas.....

edit :- this was back in the early '70s BTW
