Yes that will be interesting, they're a good company Helly Hansen or were, I was amazed at how they managed to break into the snowboard market in the late nineties and early noughties. So given that one wonders why go to the expense of acquiring Musto when they could quite easily have punched directly into the sailing business using their own brand name.
Edit (after actually reading the press release) Well it seems like they are going to continue to leave Musto with autonomy, that will be good for them, their expertise in materials and sourcing should help Musto produce better gear, it would be nice to have an actual quality brand in this market instead of the usual price and margin driven mush. Helly Hansen already do some great yacht and dinghy gear....just not really in UK. I guess this is market diversification.

agreed, I think this is more reflective of HH desire to get further into the country-horsey and leafy-high-street / business-casual fashion verticals, than any need to build more marine sales |
