Two different alligators it seems. The midlands one is Sandwell Valley SC (and was 1999). And I've found invasive shrimps in our reservoir, so be careful out there folks...

google alligator sightings, they occur with same frequency as large cat sightings.
Chew Valley one, genuine, actually got one, no explanation that I can find where the poor thing appeared from. Unlikely they could survive winter so chances of a breeding pair slim.

How about an actual Mississippi Snapping Turtle found a few years ago in the Engine Pool at Earlswood Lakes near Solihull?
See http://www.birminghampost.co.uk/news/local-news/giant-alligator-snapping-turtle-caught-3929378 Earlswood Lake Sailing Club sail on the adjoining lake and this did encourage some rapid capsize recovery. The turtle was real, was some 3ft long and was rehomed to a local safari park. |

Google researched Alligators surviving in UK, some experts say certain Alligator species could survive british winter, they dig burrows in bank.
