Can't we turn it off?
Lot's of us can spell, do we really need something that substitutes gnat for gnav and all manner of other foolishness? |

anything that discourages use of the ghastly term gnav has to be a good thing though.

I seem to remember you claiming dyslexia previously though Mr F. That was in the days before the "i" though.
Is that some sort of urban dictionary thing PresEd? |

Nope, no dyslexia here, in fact until I head butted that wall, spelling was one of my few attributes, the reason I took up all this foruming, was to try and regain my vocab and to that end it has helped, however it has since become a stupid addiction try as I may I can't seem to rid myself of.
The only 'grocer' I recall with sailing connotations was 'Grocer Heath' so it went right over my head that one. |

Greengrocers' apostrophe... normally the use of an apostrope on a plural eg
Carrot's 3/6 a lb... |

Perfectly acceptable if it's a very large carrot, of course.

Well I was of course clearly referring to the hero of Sodom & Gomorah and his impeccable spelling not to mention his offering of virgins rather than his guests to the Musto fleet.

There is no spell checking on this forum. It is your browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome, Safari etc) that is doing this for you.
Check the relevant website for your software, and follow their instructions for switching spellcheck on/off, changing language and so on. Why not find out about adding words to the dictionary. For example, I can right-click on GNAV and tell the computer it is an acceptable word. Then it won't be highlighted as a mistake again. |

A GNAV is of course a clunky and often ineffective attempt to modernise the elegant and effective VANG. I wonder if there is an FRGi somewhere.......
