15th out of 96 in the Freeride Fleet at NWF.... I'll take that thanks, especially given it was 5 knot drifters.
Cheers Graeme for all your advice and help over the years. Jimbo

Well done again James, I won my first actual cup thing sailing a dinghy single handed, turned out is was the 'senior' prize but it'll do as a starter. They raced the Hythe Festival trophy for us as we sailed the same course as the Snipe Open five minutes after them. I didn't manage to beat the bloody Merlin even though I held them up the first beat twice, once they get that kite up, they're gone but I did beat a couple of our better Lasers on handicap so i was pleased about that, it just goes to show that EPS is a sea boat.

glad to hear it - I'm now on the hunt for a decent condition raceboard, so if you hear of anyone wanting to upgrade down your way, then please drop me a mail.
I'm going to try a couple of the LWA events over the next year- as was always the plan for 2014 - until the diary clashed with nigh-on every single one of them!

Your cheapest route would be to try and get hold of one of those big F2's there are a couple at our club although they are cannibalising them for the tracks and centreboards, but they do the job for your weight group and work well on flatter inland water.
Either that or see if any of the sponsored long term loan dudes have got to ante up at the end of the season for their Starboards with the wing things on the back. |

I'm hoping to pick one up next week mate- an F2 Lightning for 300 quid.
It will need some cosmetic attention, enough to re-instate 'pimp club'...

Check the track still works OK and the centreboard, they are the two things most likely to fail or have failed and bodged to work after a fashion.
Starboards also have centreboard issues, our guy had to give up a race yesterday and came ashore cursing his Phantom saying he'll have to take it apart to get the centreboard out and back in after it jumped it's track. Centreboards and Tracks.. biggest problem area. |

I'll mail you details, but yes, the track is the biggest 'issue' to check for sure. The centreboard looks a little knackered, but I might treat myself to a new carbon custom one...

Cracking weekend with Whitefriars Juniors down at WPNSA, sailing from the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre. Even though it is some of the same people as when it ws sailaser, the enthusiasm, motivation, teaching skills and friendliness of the staff were fantastic. If you have a group looking for a place to go for a weekend away, couldn't recommend it highly enough.
And as usual WPNSA reception were great at organizing the lunches and dinner despite the ever changing numbers, and the catering was just what we needed - plentiful and tasty! Stayed at Cove Holiday park, after a couple of years of fairly grotty bunk houses and hotels. Really, really nice, sea views, use of cafe for the Saturday night, friendly warden. All in all, with the sun out, all we could have done with was a little more breeze at times, though there was always enough to get out there, and on occasion there was enough to be perching in a serious manner... |

a cracking day -
1) had a nasty looking mole chopped out of my arm 2) exchanged contracts on my house move and most importantly 3) deal agreed on a new sail racing device... for two hundred quid: |
