I know this is thread necromancy ... invite him for a sail , maybe it'll be a comedic as those who think aerobics or a ballet class are easy and end up in a heap 20 - 30 minutes into a hour - 90 minute class ... |

Ha!
Wrong on every count for me. Apparently, I'm supposed to have £1000+ a month spare. Since these results must be worked on some sort of average, then one of you B@#£%&$ must have my share. |

Well according to that RYA survey not only is participation in dinghy racing up but the age demographic is reducing.

Did they simply take every preconception and write them down, or do a survey in a south coast Royal Yacht Club?

Nonsense! We all know that the Dinghy Sailing community is populated by red hot right wing socialists.

If you read the FAQ it seems that the profile is wildly exaggerated. I didn't really understand the marketing techie speak, but I *think* what they've done, very roughly, is to say that if the data says 51% A, 49% B, they display it as being A. They said something on the lines of that if they showed the average for each group, they'd all look almost exactly alike... Rather like stereotyping all Scots as red haired I suppose.

A few months ago maybe... There was a short period of time where I could express my meta-modernity by saying f**k it and having lilac decks bonded to handbuilt British racing machine - to hell with the resale... All it took was a slight easing up of the Fois Gras and Chateau Petrus.... New boat saved for before the waiting list cleared. Sadly now I've gone and got myself another mortgage and it's back to beans on toast and Tesco claret ... And that's just about being able to buy some cheap and nasty import from Eastern Europe, designed by some cad with a questionable batting average. If only there was a British company offering something similar, but y'know, British built and designed with credibility. With strong residuals and a quality brand backing with training, circuit events on tap and a ready supply of consumables in case of problems... Hell, they could probably knock a bit off for a bit forum love. Ah, I guess I can dream... Edited by turnturtle - 10 Feb 15 at 8:56pm |

Life can't be that hard:
According to this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2948079/Buy-home-say-experts-mortgage-rates-hit-record-low-ve-got-decent-deposit.html It is the best time in history to get a mortgage. You'll soon have that £1000 spare like YouGov says you will. Then you can go to Butler Boats (or should I say more British than Britain Boats) for the boat you know you want. You know the boat? The one that would help keep those slightly older kids in the sport and the older generation feel a little less old than they are. There by dealing with the sports stereotypical criticisers and participation trend in one fell swoop. Who knew the thread question could be that easy to solve! ;-)
