I'd settle for the light cheap boat, stiffness isn't always all it's 'cracked up' to be. What are they called by the way? |

I remember reading something about Finn's where they made a super stiff hull but found it wasn't as quick as the more flexible ones due to the way it got knocked around in waves. Granted, being a Finn, 'light' and 'cheap' are two words that are not normally associated with the class, but it is the point on stiffness not always being desirable that I found interesting.

Hmmm, there is deliberately putting flex in a hull where you want it, and then there is having a bit of a floppy mess... not that I think RS are likely to have that problem, especially when they have been spending so much time on development.

I had been waiting to create an opportunity to bring the Challenge Flex into this discussion, and then the man brings it up all by himself!

Where are the photos you were tasked with bringing to the forum Davidyacht? And who calls a yacht David by the way, have you spoken to your analyst about it? Is this a gender confusion issue? Is there anything else you're not telling us? |

No the Yacht suffix was a instant reaction many years ago to somebody getting David in first. Graeme I appologise for the lack of photo, I was launching my Solo at the time, actually one of the nice RS guys brought my trolley down the slip at the end of an epic Sunday race (see reports), possibly because he felt sorry for me with my super heavy boat c/w his super lightweight boat, at least mine wont blow off its trolley when it is windy!
