I think looking at the guys website the idea is to make foiling more
accessable to mere mortals who may not be skilled or the right
build to sail a moth.
see www.sailm4.co.uk Dose anyone know any more about the project is he using standard moth foils? |

I really like the idea of the M4. If she's going to be one-design it will make foiling more accesable to everyone. The outriggers under each wing look a good idea and may appeal to more people just due to the fact that the boat looks less likely to crash and burn. I wouldn't underestimate the boat because she does look like having a bigger sail than the moth and could be quite interesting if she is operating with different foils. Sailing in lighter winds may be interesting too because the technique would be to keep the out-riggers out of the water. If the moths develope past the M4 as Isis suggested, the M4 may be a good feeder class but just noow she looks like direct competition, although she probably will cater for sailors at the heavier range of the moth fleet. Will be very interesting to see how things turn out

What I was meaning is that on the lighter days, you'll need to try and keep the outer hulls out of the water to reduce the drag of the boat and the overall wetted surface, ie trying to fly both external hulls located under the wings
