There's not an obvious category to post this in - hope it gets spotted!
Does anyone know of any kind of 'steel grating' type of product that would allow a dinghy trailer+boat to be parked on a lawn without creating huge dead patches? (am in rented house - can't make too much mess!)
If not, who'd be interested in buying one..?

Don't think the grating would make much difference. Moving the boat and trailer every day, on the other hand, would.

You will kill the grass due to lack of sunlight if left in one place

Do you mean this kind of thing:

Although as other posters mention, if the boat is parked for longer periods the lack of sunlight is still an issue.

the grating itself would leave a lovely grid pattern...

true, but I was thinking a narrow grid would re-grow more than a fat tyre mark.
take the other points about lack of sunlight.

Move it 1ft forwards, then 1ft backwards, every weekend?

Stand it on it's end round the side of the house on the concrete?

Standing it on is end will prevent flat spots on the tyres, help stop weeds growing into the hub bearings and if you cover the tyres, this will stop the sunlight damaging the rubber

Im not sure it would do the boat a lot of good though!

Cheaper than any grate or gizmo you can buy. Move the boat around and when that doesn't work, re-turf when you leave.
