Just found this on the ISAF London 2012 website:

Unfortunately, ISAF is not able to display a race tracker on the ISAF website which many sailing fans are used to seeing from our major regattas. All requests that were made were turned down due to the IOCs existing broadcast agreements. This will be disappointing for many sailing fans but we'll do the best we can to give you a comprehensive account of all the key races on the blog.

Thanks for that Mark, very disapointing.

It seems to me that race tracking would have enhanced the viewing experience.  A bad call by those who made these agreements IMHO.

It would have been nice if the broadcasters focused on the sailing rather than the spectators.  Do they do that for any other Olympic sport?

The IOC's broadcaster does eem to be pretty poor- no live tracking/antiquitated race graphics for the sailing, total cluster**** on the timing/distance to finish for the cycling. What sport they going to balls up next?

Looked like there was a box on the back of Rita, what's IOC doing with the data ? Completely hopeless, IOC need to move into the digital broadcasting world instead of keeping our sport in the dark ages! Unimpressive performance by ISAF too.Thumbs Down

All the boats are tracked by Omega. Every now and then on the coverage you get a bit of virtual action so all the ingredients are there. It's just a shame they've not made it available on the net.

Interestingly there are rumours of tracking issues when Ofcom instructed them to use a different frequency than was used at the test event.

I watched the BBC coverage of the Finn race on Sunday via the extra FreeSat channel, superb including the GPS tracks :-)
