I'm pleased kiteboarding has been introduced but no more windsurfing seems strange - has windsurfing lost popularity or ?
------------- I like to take pictures of sailing, but I'd rather be sailing!

It's a bit of an odd one. Windsurf racing has long not been part of mainstream windsurfing (it used to be, back when GRF was a lad and dinosaurs roamed the earth), but then hardly any kiteboarders race either. Meanwhile the RYA (and I'd guess other countries too) have been attempting to rejuvanate windsurf course racing from youth level upwards- the "Team 15" scheme is pretty successful across the country, and is suitable for any sized bit of water- many beaches meanwhile ban kite surfers, and there's precious few inland locations where you can do it (this isn't just a UK thing either). No offence to the site surfers, but it is an odd decision.

It's tempting to suggest that the media guys saw the colourful kites and just thought it had more of a carnival spectacular look to it - great for Rio, and less boring than windsurf races for spectators.
Can't really make sense of the decision otherwise
